What is barrel path?
Once the hands have begun moving toward the contact position, the barrel has one job.
Arrive there efficiently.
The beauty of an efficient barrel path is its simplicity.
The hitter should not manipulate the barrel.
The hitter should not manipulate the hands.
The barrel is simply responding to everything that came before it.
If the load prepared the body correctly...
If the hitter remained balanced...
If the body transferred energy through an efficient firing sequence...
The barrel naturally falls into the hitting zone.
It isn't forced there.
It isn't steered there.
It is delivered there.
Imagine the bat as a rope being pulled by your hands.
The rope doesn't decide where to go.
It simply follows the movement that delivers it.
The barrel works much the same way.
When the body works efficiently, the barrel naturally enters the zone at the appropriate time, remains in the zone through contact, and only then do the hands fully release.
Don't steer the barrel.
Build the swing that delivers it.
